SIFF
The Singapore Intl Film Festival is back! Am I mistaken, or does this year's SIFF have somewhat of an anime slant? Both opening and closing films are anime pieces (Steamboy & Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence)! In the main programme, there's Appleseed and Tokyo Godfathers. Bought both Innocence & Tokyo Godfathers DVDs in HK last week, so am not so sure if I'll catch them on the big screen.
The movies' timeslots are not out yet, so I can't be certain which movies will fit my schedule. Online bookings will start from mid-Mar onwards. Haven't quite looked through all the movie listings, but some films I thought I'd keep a watchout for are:
- Steamboy
- Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (yeah..see how it goes, if the tics price are acceptable and I feel like watching it on the big screen..)
- Café Lumière (upon recommendation by yuj)
- Pirated Copy / Man Yan
- My Jealous Barber (sounds quirky)
Maybe because there's so much Japanese anime this time round.. the selection of Japanese movies seems quite small. Too bad there's no 下妻物語 (it's listed in this yr's HK film fest), so there goes our only chance of watching a movie in Singapore in a cinema filled with lolittas, darn! :P
