Insomnia
Could not get to sleep so I'm here blogging. About what I do not know. Just expensing off some of that frantic energy that's keeping my mind awake.
Lessee... well, I've finally finished the volumnous Makioka Sisters. Boy was it laborious. And so different from The Key too. Remarkedly different. While yeah it does serve its purpose of portraying the life of a middle-high income family of sisters in Osaka during the years immediately before WWII, but if you ask me whether it was an absolute good read, I'd say, not really. It has its moments, but not all of it was as poignant as it was made out to be.
Then again things often get lost in the translation. Something written pointedly in another language could bring the point across in a totally different way.
& yes, I think Tanizaki excels more in the genre of "sexually perverted literature". -_- I shall endeavour to read his "Diary of a Mad Old Man" next, fufufufu...
Travel plans>>>
I have succumbed and bought a Jetstar ticket to HK for the end of the month. Yes, yes...i am but a sucker for air-deals...this shall forever be my fatal flaw (this and being a sucker for lives..the worst combination evAR). But who could resist a S$40 one-way ticket??!
Well anyway, that means I'll miss Blondie's performance at Fort Canning Park on 1 Mar. Oh well.. I checked out the concerts in HK during that period and saw that it was Andy Hui. er, skip.
Work plans>>>
OK so I'm seriously thinking about switching jobs again. Expect drastic updates in the next few weeks.
CNY week>>>
What happened?? How did it just whiz by??! -_- BH off to HK, Huibin off to BKK, Jas&Har off to BKK, parents off to Genting. Luckily I had a stack of bak kwa/pineapple tarts/coke/crackers/prawn rolls to tide me past the CNY. & BL from BH too. Ah well, there were friends back in Spore as well, so at least that was some sort of social activity!! & celebrating Qiu's x+7-6+12-13 b'day w Bong was fun yeah. &... When in doubt about Jay's tune, just stay on the same pitch; chances are you've hit it right. Red belts do NOT go with red jackets. I have to learn [jiu gee gor jiao] lyrics.
high tech longings>>>
oh how i long to upgrade my zen. but somehow the zen micro design just doesn't go down well with me. should i be a sucker for design and go for the ipod next time? wait a min, shouldn't i not be thinking about this? this should be the least of my priorities for goodness sake!! anyway, i'm glad i finally got down to replacing my spoilt JVC hi-fi with a Pioneer 5.1. Am sorta going through all my favourite discs with the player now. Cos I am discovering new sounds never heard before!!
i should sleep.
