Critically-acclaimed Perverseness

I've just finished reading [The Key] by Junichiro Tanizaki.

Woah.

It's perverse, yes. It's conceivably realistic, yes. It's a true literary work? Yes.

[Paused there for a while thinking about how to write about the book. I can't!!]

It's explicitly about sex and perverseness, and yet it's a sort of intellectual erotism. & it keeps you guessing right to the end. Did he read her diary? Did she read his? Was what they wrote in their diaries entirely true?

Is it just the Japanese authors that I have read so far, or is it that Japanese authors in general just have a sense of warped-ness? ^_^;

Anyway, it's a good book. I'd recommend it for people who aren't too much into heavy reading (it's a short book, and the translation flows very well) but who don't want to read trash either.
