Mixed feelings
Have just arrived back in Singapore~
Haven't blogged the last few days although a number of things have happened.. On 31 Oct Yuj and myself met up with Peggy and June, and we attended the mucc finale live at Hibiya Yaon together. On 1 Nov I met up during the day with two ex-colleagues who are now staying in Tokyo. At night a group of 5 of us went together to watch Rice live at Shibuya O-East. That night after the live my head was throbbing like crazy but there were so many things to do even after we went back to the hotel..packing up was a humongous task!
On 2 Nov, we were the first customers @ DiscWave at Ikebukuro, cos we had to rush over to Yoyogi to meet yuj's friend before noontime. Lunch was at a quaint french restaurant that is very good value for money, a good recommendation from yuj's friend! After lunch, I made a last-minute decision to pop by Shinjuku DiscWave to use up the points that I have accumulated in the pointscard, before bidding a hasty bye-bye to yuj and seat and heading for Shinagawa and the airport.
Mixed feelings.. ever since the 31 Oct mucc live. It was the first time attending such a large-scale mucc live (tatsurou mentioned that there were 3,000 persons, but we estimate perhaps about 2,500+ persons were in the audience). It was not the best mucc live for me, though. Firstly, the acoustics was less than perfect. We were at Yukke's side, and although we were actually not THAT close to the speakers, they were blasting constantly into our left ears. Yukke's bass sounds for most part of the live was drowning out the other instruments.. despite that, the bass notes were not distinct enough for us to appreciate them. What a pity, because we had a good view of Yukke and really wanted to see and hear the bass parts for a lot of the songs.
Secondly, it was just rather odd to be at a mucc live where there are seats and restrictions in movements. I think Hibiya Yaon is just not a very good venue for lives... the acoustics, seat arrangements, the brightness from the surroundings since it is an open-air venue (& consequently disrupting the mood for some intense songs like [Kuchiki no tou]), etc.
I think, the other thing that struck me that night was just how mucc was going to go on after this... That night they announced the coming release of a few things, including a history DVD, a new single in spring and a photo-book (this we found out about only after the live when we poured through the pamphlets). The spring single.. one can't help but agree that they have, after all, agreed to a certain number of releases with their record company.. the photo-book sort of took me aback. It just suddenly seems very commercialized (reminded me of Diru's photobooks). Mucc.. what will you be taking up in the road ahead of you? ('_')... (;_;)... And i started thinking again about how important are fans' views in all of these.. should they be important? do I want them to be or not, especially as it is i am also a fan? But more importantly, how is the band dealing with the numerous pressures and demands coming from all angles as more and more people (talking about beyond fans of course) start to take an interest in what they do.
Yuj sensed I wasn't feeling of sorts that night as well, and we had a long discussion on this.. I guess she is right.. we have to have more faith in the band. It is SO hard to come across a band with the combination of music and personalities that we like so much. The only thing we can do is hope and watch out for them. Guess that's really all we can do. Sigh.. am missing yuj's company suddenly.. miss having someone around to share thoughts and feelings about music..music that we both love! :_)
I guess I should end this blog post with something positive. :) Well, I really enjoyed Yukke's mc session during the encore on 31 Oct. He forced us all to say that we like him, and talked about how there's a helicopter filming the live from above, only to call people who looked up baka...(汗) Dear dearest Yukke.. how can anyone not like Yukke-chan? ☆
