Purple penguin
Gave the previous penguin away because suddenly I have developed an immense desire to see a purple one on my page.
Gosh why am I developing all these quirks... sign of old age for sure...
Anyway, i find it highly therapeutic to keep clicking on the penguin and then see him (her?) fall into the water...ngeh ngeh ngeh~
More thoughts from tonight...
2 more weeks till my last day at work. I have to admit, sometimes I still catch myself questioning whether I have made the right decision. Especially since there's still the bond value I have to pay up. They haven't come back to me with the total LD yet, and I know if they really want to hit me they can do so using an unfavourable exchange rate. & it really does seem as if they take resignations personally. To the extent that they told me that they do not count Saturdays or Sundays as last days even if I give one month's notice! Just to save that miserly last day's worth of salary? How absurd is that??! No other organization I know has such a policy!
On the other hand, I have no (none at all!) qualms about leaving the work. I don't detect any more interest in what I'm doing... and I've forced myself to stay esp in the last few months just to make sure. Yes...although there are various 'perks' in the job, including getting into contact with many issues that I think will be hard to come across (and learn from) in subsequent jobs, but i think, the time has come for me to say goodbye and move on.
I won't be hypocritical and say I will miss my colleagues. I know which ones will continue to stay as good friends, and which will just remain as acqaintances who end their emails with "Keep in touch!".
And so, I've chosen to buy myself the freedom for the next few months and finish up some much-overdue studying. On top of that I want to re-pick up Japanese, and nurture back my health.
What comes after that, it's anybody's guess. Some days I get inspired by the possible career options (cos there's just one missing puzzle left in my core competencies - but that would entail much higher work commitment than the job that I am leaving - so I will have to ask myself whether that's something I want). Other days I think hey, let's make use of this opportunity to create another path for myself (i have something in mind but am embarrassed to mention it out loud..). Or, I could stick with a less demanding job in my current line of work, but at the expense of exposing myself to more learning opportunities.
Ah, I'll take it as it comes. :) As long as I still get to go attend lives. :):)
