Am back..
..back from one of the most vomit-inducing (literally) working trips I've ever had...
Too many things to get off my chest right now...don't know where to start...or whether i should start at all, to spare everyone the agony (heh)...don't really know why it happened...things were okay on sunday and monday...and then on tuesday everything just went blurry...i was lucky i didn't pass out in the middle of a meeting (there was this point during a meeting where i was -that- close to passing out)...the whole of tuesday afternoon, evening and night was a blur...only remember things like puking out everything i ate...trying desperately to maintain consciousness...feeling horribly uncomfortable because of extreme heavy menstrual flow (sorry if you happen to feel offended by such topics, but it's an everyday fact of life!)
Thank goodness for my colleague. i can't thank her enough. she helped call the doctor to my room but ahhhhhh... this is where the whole mess started... don't get me started on this... oooooooh... all i can say is, the bloody doctor is a quack.. not only did she charge an obscenely large amount of fees, she was also rude, did not bother to tell us the possible causes of the illness (my fever was at 39 degrees celsius!), seemed embarrassed at my mention of heavy menses (c'mon, it was the 5th day and it was clumpy, what do you think??) and the worst worst worst part of it.. she injected and prescribed me with medicine that I was allergic to. Woke up early next day to find myself...unable to open my eyes. Because they have swollen to such proportions I couldn't recognize myself in the mirror. Sure the doctor later told me that there are 2 possible medicines that she prescribed that could have been the culprit, but so what? the harm has been done, and she refused to come down to give me any anti-allergy pills, asking me to eat one of the other pills instead, because they have anti-allergy elements in them. So I was unable to attend 2 meetings which I really wanted to on Wednesday afternoon. Till now i feel terrible about that. I'm thinking.. I don't know how my office is going to take to this. That I fell ill on a business trip. I mean, yeah, health comes first and I should never think of going for the meetings if I were sick, but still. There are repercussions to such things.
Anyway. Not going to think about it. This is just a small drop compared to many other troubles other pple are facing. I'm just glad it's over and that I could get on the plane safely back to Singapore and I can sit here blogging.
Some funny things happened on the trip though (besides the joking about my half-swollen eyes on Wednesday... it's still swollen now and I can finally see how I must have looked like as a fat baby). On Monday we received these tiny Hello Kitty gifts and it's like a closed eggshell so you open it up to see what figurine you get inside. What figurine you get is all a matter of luck of course. The figurines are supposed to represent different parts of Japan so you have Hello Kitty wearing various costumes representative of these places. My colleague got a beautiful Kyoto traditional costume Kitty. I got....uuurrgh... the ugliest one in the collection!!! uurrggghhh!!!!!
Guess that was a premonition of my luck to come during the trip..
